Howdy everyone. Just wanted to let you know, the Lunt's are at it again. We're going to be biking in the Trek Across Maine for the American Lung Association June 13 - 15. This year Nicholas will be joining us for his first Trek Across Maine, so it should be an interesting adventure.
When Nicholas was 10, he and I started participating in the Tour de Cure for diabetes. We rode the 32-mile courses for 6 years, then Bill joined us for 2 more. In 2006, Bill and I teamed up for the Trek Across Maine and have done it twice with this year being our third.
The event is a lot of fun and a lot of work. The ride itself is long, averaging 60-miles a day in all weather conditions, but it is for a great cause. The American Lung Association Maine works to promote healthy air for all of us and that's a hard thing to argue against; WE ALL NEED TO BREATH!
As an athlete with asthma, I can tell you personally it's not fun to have. Last year while on the last day of the Trek, I had a pretty bad asthma attack. I was able to get to a rest stop, where a paramedic was called and medication was administed, but it was still pretty scary. They wanted to take me to the hospital, but I refused, they wanted to take me to the next rest stop, but I refused, they wanted to follow me in a sag wagon, I REFUSED. I started the ride under my own power and I finished the ride under my own power, but a lot of people aren't that lucky. Too many people suffer from all sorts of breathing issues and the American Lung Association is doing what it can to prevent and educate, won't you please help too.
If you click on the link below, you will be directed to our family Trek page where you can make your contribution to the American Lung Assocation Maine. With our efforts and yours, we can make this a better world.
Thanks from all of us.

Points Series Rules
You must complete 6 series races to be eligible for an award.
The age category of each runner is determined by their age at the first series race they enter for the calendar year.
The top 10 runners in each age group receive points for each series race they complete. (1st = 10 points, 2nd = 9 points, etc.)
Awards are based on the runner’s total points from their 6 best series performances.
Awards are presented to the male and female with the highest total point overall, regardless of age category. These 2 runners are not eligible for an age group award.
Awards are presented to the top 3 runners in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
In the event of a tie, each runner’s next best performance (7th, 8th, etc.) is considered until the tie is broken and a winner is determined.
You must be a member of Rock Coast Runners to be eligible for the points series. Points will not be accumulated until paid membership is received.
In less than a month, six local runners will embark on their journey to compete in one of the most prestigious road races in the world: the Boston Marathon.
